“The Church calls each member of Christ’s Body – priest, deacon, and layperson – to participate in the ministry of consolation: to care for the dying, to pray for the dead, and to comfort those who mourn.” (OCF, #8)
The Rite of Christian funerals is liturgical prayer. It is offered for both the bereaved and the dead. A sorrowful, suffering people gather to articulate their feelings and their faith in the presence of the Lord.
Our Liturgy attempts to provide hope and consolation to those mourning the death of a loved one. We believe that death is not an end but a beginning. As believers, the risen Jesus Christ is our hope in the midst of our tears.
